Sledging has a long tradition in South Tyrol. Perhaps this is because it is a highly gregarious activity that can be shared with the entire family. It can readily also be paired with a good glass of wine or a game of cards in the warmth of a mountain hut or shelter. Perfectly kept slopes, fresh snow and ski runs which are also suitable for children in and around Prato allo Stelvio, await all sports-minded families.

The natural, four-kilometer long toboggan run in the Watles ski area is among the most attractive in all South Tyrol. The two-kilometer track in Solda is illuminated in the evenings three times a week. While the pros prefer to use the natural ice track at Gafair in Lasa, where numerous races are held, the track up the Val di Gafair is more often used by non-professionals, perhaps for an enjoyable sled ride, starting at the source of the sulfurous spring commonly known as Stinkabrunn.
